I think I'm going to get a bayo lug barrel band simply because bayonets are cool, and since this isn't going to be a true original anyway, why not? Again, I'm going to try to do all Inland just because I'm OCD and if I'm replacing parts, why not get the correct manufacturer. On a 1942 vintage the flip sight would be correct, but I honestly prefer the type II adjustable rear sight so i'll put a milled (type II) adjustable rear sight on it. So I'm looking at replacing the front and rear sights (will get Inland marked simply because they will be "correct" and are the most readily available anyway).

I want to end result to not necessarily be "correct", but more the "best available" components that could be correct on a post war rebuild.

Type two barrel band and the bubba cut off the sling swivel. Has a later flip safety and M marked magazine catch. So I've torn it down and discovered that I have an Inland double stamped (serial number) receiver, Inland barrel dated 12-42 (no import markings). The front sight has had the ears cut off, the rear sight was replaced (missing) with a scope mount with an old Weaver scope, and the stock was an aftermarket Monte Carlo job that is actually nice looking, but it's still "bubba" on a carbine.

$580 plus tax, so about $640 out the door. It was local so I could go look at it, so I watched it and got what I thought was a pretty good deal on it. In the meantime, prices had gone through the roof so I'd always kept an eye out for a reasonably priced carbine.Ī couple of weeks ago a bubba'd Inland popped up on Gunbroker. My uncle had purchased an M1 back in the 60's-70's and left it at my grandparent's house, so I put my stock on his Inland and had a blast shooting it growing up.Įventually he retired and moved back to the states, and came to get his firearms from my grandparents, so I was left with a stock and no carbine. It arrived and was very well made out of a nice piece of Walnut. Back in the 90's I bought an M1A1 reporduction stock out of the Shotgun News.
